Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team!
In the Internal Medicine department, you will see a variety of cases ranging from renal and hepatic disorders, gastrointestinal disease, endocrinopathies (such as diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, Cushing’s, and Addison’s disease), hematologic and immune-mediated conditions, respiratory and infectious diseases, and other chronic or multisystem illnesses. You will be able to work with the veterinarian on advanced procedures such as abdominal and thoracic ultrasound, endoscopy (gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urinary), tissue and organ biopsies, fine-needle aspirates, bone marrow sampling, fluid collection and analysis (thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis), and feeding tube placement.
Experience & Skills Requirements
- Veterinary assistant experience- highly preferred, specialty experience is a bonus
- 1-2 years of clinical experience -highly preferred
Role Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Assist with procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $23-28 hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
